The Old Town in Aarhus

The Old Town in Aarhus, Denmark (Danish: Den Gamle By), is an open-air town museum located in the Aarhus Botanical Gardens. In 1914 the museum opened as the world's first open-air museum of its kind, concentrating on town culture rather than village culture. The museum consists of 75 historical buildings from year 1500 to 1800 collected from 20 townships in year 1900 - from all parts of the country. Some of the buildings, homes and shops have been preserved, as they were back in the days - so you can experience a kind of time-travel back into time.

If your vacation, work-shop, party or meeting has to take place in the Eastern part of Jutland, we are a good starting point for your stay. We are located in the scenic area between Aarhus, Silkeborg, Viborg and Randers. We are located 3 km from the town of Hammel and close to Gjern Hills and Frijsenborg forests. Only about one hours drive to many of Jutland's attractions. You have every opportunity to have a perfect stay for the entire family - regardless of seasons and weather. Hedegaarden is operated as an active agricultural farm, which means that there is always something going on. Lots of activities - just the thing for a creative family. We offer a pleasant stay, all year round, with a wealth of opportunities. The children can follow the animals life close by and play in the outdoor areas. We offer 10 rooms with a total of 20 beds. The rooms have access to shared bathroom and kitchen. Large living room with TV and radio. Communal living room with pool and whirlpool, access to washing machine, cot, playground and fireplace. Free access to a large beautiful enclosed garden and with good fishing nearby.
