Fuglsø Kro Bed and Breakfast - host article

The house is located as a pure story by HC Andersen - its stately, with a new thatched roof and small twigs on the 1st floor. The house is simply beautiful.

On the opposite side of the road there is guest parking and next door - a large lawn area, where tables and benches are set up for lunch in the green or as a pause button on the bike and hiking trip. The inn is located at the foot of the fantastic Mols Bjerge, where the viewpoint Trehøje - lives up to its name, and offers three view hills with a unique view of the entire Kalø Vig and Fuglsø Vig - as well as a 360 degree view of the sea, fjord and land. An incomparable experience that can be achieved by car - and even people with walking difficulties can reach the very top of the world. The road is a narrow gravel road, where you hold your breath all the way up, hoping that no oncoming car will come. But what a road…

Elisabeth welcomes us in the café which also serves as a reception and Elisabeth shows us around - calmly. She warmly welcomes us for a two-night stay. The room, she shows us to, is located on the first floor is large and bright. And like the rest of the decor at the inn well maintained and tastefully decorated. Not expensive and modern, but with old furniture, that one by one has been painted and decorated so, that it exactly fits into the colors and style of the rest of the furniture. Its cozy.

Everything is made possible with love and care. The room is furnished with two single beds, tables and chairs, closet and bedside tables. From the window sill, which is wide and large, there is a sea view over Fuglsø Vig. There is just a nice and good atmosphere at the old inn, which now serves as a Bed and Breakfast with cafe lounge, where both breakfast and coffee with cake, lunch with sandwiches can be consumed. Everything served - bread, jam and cake is homemade. The jam is delivered by Elisabeth’s mother, who drives from Ebeltoft and thus provides a little extra care for all the guests. The café is open during the school holidays - and it is during that period possible to order sandwiches for lunch. There is no evening service.

Elisabeth is happy to talk about all the opportunities, there are for nice experiences in the area. She points out the really good places on the map, she subsequently gives us, to take around on the days excursions. We get help and guidance to find places to eat in the area, but we instead choose to order sandwiches from the café for dinner. We get them beautifully served on a tray in the room, and can enjoy our meal in peace and quiet with the beautiful view as we eat the delicious tuna sandwiches. There is a large common living room with tables and chairs on the first floor. And 2 shared completely modern and fine bathrooms for the Bed and Breakfasts 5 rooms. It works fine. From the living room there is access to a large shared balcony with tables and chairs for 8 people, where you can sit and enjoy the view of the cafe garden, where guests come and go after enjoying a cup of coffee with homemade cake or having eaten their lunch. The breakfast is a cozy experience. You are served  what you need, including delicious softboiled eggs and a good apple juice, which I guess is local.

The whole area around Fuglsø Kro is Mols National Park with fantastic opportunities for hiking and biking. Not to mention Kaløvig Castle ruin or Slettehage Lighthouse - a fantastic vantage point. Ebeltoft with the small cobbled streets and halftimbered houses, the town hall and the Frigate Jutland you can visit within a few minutes drive. Ree Park, Scandinavian Animal Park, Djurs Sommerland and the Kattegat Center are within 45 min. driving.

Are you going to Djursland - you should stay at Fuglsø Kro. You are guaranteed not to be disappointed.
